On May 28, 2026, the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Korea hosted a reception at The Ambassador Seoul - A Pullman Hotel in celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day.

On 27 April 2026, Aleksandre Gachechiladze, Deputy Director of the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, and Levan Moseshvili, CEO of the United Airports of Georgia, held meetings organized by the Embassy of Georgia with representatives of leading Korean airlines - Kwangho Ko, Senior Vice President of Passenger Business Division at Korean Air, Tae Joon (TJ) Kim, Senior Vice President of International Affairs & Alliances at Korean Air, and Changsup Shim, Senior Vice President at T’way. During the meetings, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Korea in the aviation sector, including Korean Air’s planned resumption of seasonal charter flights to Georgia in May 2026, as well as the possibility of T’way operating flights to Georgia. The parties agreed to continue coordinated work on these matters.

On 22 April 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Mr. Kwon-Sik Woo, a Senior Vice President of Hyundai Heavy Industries. During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to advance a practical dialogue between the Georgian side and Hyundai Heavy Industries, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the investment, industrial, and logistics sectors.

On April 17, 2026, Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Mr. Chung Soyc, Director General of the International Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on key developments in the healthcare sector and explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

On March 11, 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Mr. Daeik Son, General Director of the Global Business Department of K-water. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Korea in the field of energy.

On March 10, 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Ms. Youn Young Mi, Chairperson of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), and Ambassador Ki Chang Kwon, Executive Vice Chairman of KOIMA. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on opportunities to further enhance trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Korea. Particular attention was given to the prospects for expanding exports of Georgian agricultural products, wine, mineral water, and meat to the Korean market. The discussion also addressed the potential participation of Georgian companies in the “Korea Import Fair,” the annual exhibition organized by KOIMA in Seoul. The sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation with a view to further strengthening bilateral economic ties.

On March 4, 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, met with Ms. Janghee Kim, Director General for Trade Agreement Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, the parties discussed the signing and subsequent ratification of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Georgia and the Republic of Korea later this year. Both sides expressed their readiness to continue close coordination and cooperation to advance the process.

On 20 February 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, held a meeting with Mr. Hee Young Park, Senior Managing Director of the Development Division of Lotte Group, and Mr. Jack Oh, Director of Development Team 1.

On 12 February, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, met with Mr. Lee Do Hyung, Director of the Global South Team of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).  During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on ways to further deepen economic and investment cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Korea, with a particular focus on advancing concrete projects and strengthening business ties between the two countries.

On 9 February, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, met with Mr. T.J. Kim, Senior Vice President of Korean Air. The discussion focused on opportunities to further develop air connectivity between Georgia and the Republic of Korea. It was noted that passenger flows and bilateral exchanges have grown steadily in recent years, creating a strong foundation for deeper cooperation. Both sides agreed to continue close coordination in this area.

On 5 February 2026, Mr. Mikheil Tigishvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, met with Mr. Lee Song Joo, Director of the Economic Legal Affairs Division of the International Economic Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. The meeting focused on the ongoing negotiations on the Agreement between Georgia and the Republic of Korea on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments (BIT). The sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue coordinated efforts toward the successful conclusion of the agreement.
